The Institutional Surveys collection includes reports on surveys conducted by the Office of Institutional Research at the American University in Cairo. Electronic versions of the reports are collected and described for inclusion in AUC's Digital Archive and Research Repository (DAR Repository). [1] Members of the Office of Institutional Research may submit items to this collection. All files and metadata are reviewed by the University Records Manager.


The Institutional Surveys collection was created in January 2012. Collection and description of electronic versions of these reports is an ongoing project of the Records Management unit of the Rare Books and Special Collections Library. The collection is publicly accessible in the Digital Archive and Research Repository.


The following table instructs staff from the Office of Institutional Research on how to enter descriptive information about Institutional Surveys. Some fields in the item submission template are not included in these instructions, and should be left blank.

The First Year Experience Survey is designed to assess the effectiveness of the First-Year Experience Program (FYE) . The program period was from August 23rd to August 25th, 2011. The survey was designed by the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) in cooperation with the Core Curriculum Office and was distributed to participating students on the last day of the program. Approximately one thousand eighty five (1085) surveys were distributed to the FYE students, and one thousand fifty three hundred (1053) were completed and returned (97.1%).
