Scope

The Muslim Philanthropy Digital Library (MPDL) makes widely available a repository of the world’s knowledge on all forms of philanthropy as expressed through original documents, reports, graphics, and registrations, as well as scholarly analysis in Muslim majority countries and communities worldwide.

The MPDL includes the following series:

  • Bint al-Nil Journal Articles
  • Muslim Philanthropy Digital Library Documents
  • Philanthropy and Civic Engagement Visual Exhibition
  • Voices of Philanthropy

Provenance

The MPDL is a collaborative effort between the John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement and the Rare Books and Special Collections Library (RBSCL). The Gerhart Center is responsible for collecting, digitizing, and describing content related to civic engagement in Islam, and the RBSCL hosts the collection in the Rare Books and Special Collections Digital Library.

The MPDL is currently housed in DAR, however, pending CONTENTdm's ability to process Arabic script, the collections will be moved to the Rare Books and Special Collections Digital Library (RBSCDL).
